Follow-up to the Manchester Pakistan Graduate Job Fair

On wednesday afternoon I attended the Pakistan Graduate Job Fair which was organised by the British Council and the University of Manchester. It was a very sucessful and busy event.
I publicised this event a few weeks ago, (see earlier blog posting), to University of Sheffield students and I know that some of you attended. However if you were not able to go, the Fair organisers kindly let me bring back a few copies of the ‘Fair Guide’. This guide gives details of the 16 Employers who were there, all of whom are interested in recruiting international students from Pakistan who have been educated in the UK. So it provides very useful information on employers, from a wide range of sectors, who would be interested in receiving your application if you are aiming to return to Pakistan to build your career.
Call in to the Careers Service (388 Glossop Road) to pick up a copy.

I also attended a seminar in the morning where several of the employers gave presentations. Some of the key messages where:-

-There are a lot opportunities for graduates in Pakistan particularly for students with degrees in Business/Finance/Marketing, Engineering/Technical, Law-related, subjects

-They were keen to recruit UK-educated students but that applications must be of a high quality

-Applicants must market what they have gained from their degree and being in the UK, such as independence, drive, commercial awareness, IT skills, English language skills

-Applicants must have clear career goals, a strong work ethic and be able to show that their values relate to the those of the company.
