As we come to the end of what feels like the busiest week
ever for the Careers Service (with our 2 big Careers Fairs)! And since it is several
weeks since the start of the semester, I thought it might be worth having a
recap about the range of support you can access at the Careers Service. Our aim
is to provide information, advice and guidance to help you achieve your career
goals.
As an international student you can obviously access all the
general services we provide for all students.
These include:-

-An extensive website with lots of useful
information including on-line talks, example CVs, downloadable leaflets etc. http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/careers

-The Student Jobshop for those looking for
part-time jobs or Internships

A programme of graduate employer presentations
and Careers Fairs with hundreds of major companies coming on campus every year
·
-A vacancies database with thousands of vacancies
· -
A programme of careers talks and workshops
·
-Skill development programmes such as ‘Taste of
Work’, ‘Sheffield Graduate Award’ etc.
·
-Individual careers guidance and help with CVs
and application forms
·
-And lots more!
In addition there are services specifically for
International students.
These include:-

A section of the website for international
students with information and videos
·
-A programme of talks and workshops just for
international students and ‘tailored’ to your needs. These include the ever
popular CV/Applications and Interviews workshops.

Booklets/ Leaflets such as the ‘Maximise’
leaflet’, ‘International Students: How
we can help you find work experience’ and manyothers
· -
The web resources ‘My International Career’ and
‘Going Global’ to help you look for work in your home country or other
countries across the world

So please make sure that you are taking advantage of all we
have to offer while you are a student. Select from all the options what suits you best .........have
a look at the website; book onto a talk; pick up a booklet from our Careers
Centre; schedule a meeting with a Careers Adviser............................... we don't want you to miss out!
